Toyota Corolla Not Interested In More Power?

In the words of the late Ben Parker, with great power comes great responsibility. Perhaps, this is the words which Toyota is clinging on too as they seem reluctant to launch a high-performance vehicle. The Corolla, in particular, is one of the most popular compact cars in the world but the new Honda Civic shows that it lacks the power.

Hence, to those that are expecting the Corolla to get updated with a more powerful engine, you could be wrong. Toyota is unlikely to resort to equipping the Corolla with turbochargers just to improve the performance and fuel economy of the car. Having a turbocharger on board means more money is needed to maintain the vehicle.

This is apparently not in Toyota’s best interest. They want the Corolla to be a no-nonsense compact car that is both economical and reliable at the same time. Of course, this is based on logical thinking. Toyota could surprise us all with a high-performance Corolla in the near future.
